‘There Will Be Blood’

Camera Work

  • Lots of medium long shot and close ups.
  • Panning, following the characters moves, to show what he is doing.
  • Low angles, eye levels
  • Over the shoulder, makes it look like we are looking over the characters shoulder to what he is holding.

Mise en Scene

  • Mostly dark lighting, unless the character goes out of the mine, but the lighting is still dark, seeing as its early morning or sunset. You don’t get to see the characters face much because of the lighting being so dark. There was probably little lighting being used in this scene.
  • The prob he mainly uses is a pick hacks, which can tell us this is an important object he is using, because it is helping him get to what he wants, which makes the audience curious.
  • The hat the character is wearing also helps disguise his face, seeing as it creates a shadow. This could make a mystery to this character. However when he is out of the mine, you see him fully, this could mean, he’s portrayed as a different character out side the mines, where as inside he could be classed as dark.
  • As the character sees the light shinning on his face, he sees its daylight, and he looks up. Then decides to see daylight. This could mean he has spent so long down in the mine, that he has forgotten the light.
  • The character hold a rock, which he then kisses, this could suggest, that rock was what the character was looking for.

 Editing

  • there is a lot of simple editing.
  • Lots of cuts.
  • Long shots

 Sound

·         Starts of as a quite siren, as the tittles appear.
·         When picture appears, siren gets loader. This could suggest that something intense might happen, this creates a lot suspense for the characters.
·         After that, there is no sound track. But a good use of diagetic sound, like the pick hacks, the character climbing, wind blowing, thunder
·         There is no dialog. Just the natural sounds.

  1. This is your only post with screen grabs. You need to insert alot more of these. Your analysis can only really make sense if you can illustrate the opoints that you make.

    More vocab too.

Still, you met the deadlines and have completed the task
